So I’m winding down after DragonCon and the launch of Asteroid Mappers, a new citizen science project from CosmoQuest. Thanks to all my Facebook friends who have been posting amazing pictures of D*C; I’ll be adding mine soon. And do check out Asteroid Mappers, because that lets you explore the surface of asteroid Vesta in exquisite detail and actually help with the science.
Maria Walters and the Atlanta Skeptics hosted the 4th annual Atlanta Star Party in honor of Jeff Medkeff, and we, along with the Foundations Beyond Belief, raised a buttload of money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. And, the whole thing was broadcast live as a Google Hangout! See the recording here, full of goodness from Marian Call, George Hrab, Phil Plait, and me! (My talk on Grote Reber starts around the 2hr mark.)

Other things going on include a funding campaign for a new science startup called Uwingu. They have just a few days left to their campaign, so please contribute!
I’ll be working hard to get back to blogging on important sites like Discovery News, Skepchick, and CosmoQuest, but I’ll be sure to check in here every once in a while, too.
