I have a 32Gb iPod Touch, and I agree about typing messages with it being a pain in the butt. If it would let me do landscape mode when typing it’d help, but…

My current cell phone is an ancient Nokia, and since it works well enough I’ll keep it for the time being. I like the slide-out keyboard phones that have real keys. That looks like an improvement over touch screen for typing.

For now, though, I’ll be content with the iPod Touch for the calendar, apps, music & the many podcasts I subscribe to:

As for Netflix, really I’ve been lazy about the fact that I can get almost any movie or tv series I want from the university library’s DVD collection for free. I may as well take advantage of that while I’m still a student.

I think someone at EW suggested a BSG-style restart of Buck Rogers, too. That could be fun.

Oh, and Logan’s Run. That one might look different now that I’m beyond the age where they were killing everyone in that movie

Interesting that you’re considering dropping Netflix. We’re about to turn off cable and go with Netflix/iTunes/Hulu/HDTV-antenna. The shows we’re addicted to will be available the next day and we won’t have to drop $100/month for a decent set of cable channels that we only watch three of anyway.

Besides, without Netflix, I would have no chance of using many of the Rifftrax. I am NOT buying Twilight.

And to be serious about the iPhone for a sec:

I love it, but it does have some issues. For example:

- The touch-screen keyboard. I’m used to it, but my hands are too big to use it easily. I end up typing with one finger. You probably wouldn’t have this problem since you have girl hands

- The camera takes decent pics but it doesn’t autofocus or zoom. (The new iPhone will.)

- Does not take video. (Again, the new one will.)

- It takes some work to smoothly work with email, although you can get it to work fairly easily. The Blackberry is an email-centered device, and the iPhone is web-centered.

But I love love love having my MP3 player and phone in the same device. Before when I would be gettin’ down, I would miss calls sometimes. Not anymore.

It’s a great tool, despite its flaw*BZZZZT*

I do like Netflix now more than I’ve been using the Instant Play. But it’s like, I never watched much tv anyway, do I really need it? Can I get my scifi elsewhere?

Dude, I would also LOVE a remake of Sliders. That show was fun. And Jerry O’Connell was so dreamy…

BTW, almost halfway thru 1st season of Star Trek TOS! <3

That last point isn’t very frequent but it’s important. Just yesterday, my iPhone rescued me from having to thumb through yet another dog-eared Readers Digest.

You should keep Netflix, though. There’s a whole bunch of cheesy scifi goodness to be had there. They’ve got the complete original series of Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, U.F.O., Babylon 5, Sliders, etc.

On a side note, I’d like to see someone re-do Sliders, preferably a bit less preachy and a bit more sane. I mean, what kind of genius jumps to a parallel world in their shirtsleeves? Some Earths are bound to be toxic.
